Karisma Hotels Hosts Fourth Annual Awards Forum

The weekend of November 16 – 19, Rene Jongmans, President of Vacation Express, LeeAnn Roper, National Sales Manager, and I (Renee Wood, Director of New Business Development) attended Karisma Hotels and Resorts’ Fourth Annual GI Vacation Consultant Awards and Sales and Marketing Forum. The event was held at the El Dorado Royale Resort in the Riviera Maya, and a grand time was had by all. In typical Karisma fashion every single event from check-in to the awards ceremony on Friday evening was spectacular. Invited attendees included top Karisma GI Vacation Consultants from the US and the United Kingdom. Also, Karisma invited its top tour operator partners.
The weekend began with a Gourmet Celebration Wednesday evening that was held in the elegant Ballroom. The dinner featured fabulous food from all the El Dorado and Azul chefs and featured each restaurant so the agents could get a taste of what their clients would experience at a Karisma property. And I speak from experience – every delectable dish I sampled was exceptional on every level!

I had the pleasure of staying in one of the El Dorado Casitas Royale Swim-up Casita Suites. Besides being exceptionally beautiful with king canopy bed, hot tub, outdoor shower and a patio that opened for you to step into the pool and drift to the pool bar, butler service was also included. The butler service was second to none. As I was working I only had brief opportunities to take in the splendor of my room but having the butler made it perfect. The service included fresh fruit plates, margarita glasses filled with pistachios and cashew nuts, bottles of wine, and more. Also, every afternoon a beautiful cheese plate awaited me - the perfect afternoon snack. In the evening they even filled the hot tub, iced champagne and had fresh rose petals sprinkled throughout the room. I was treated like a queen - totally pampered (I could get used to this!).
Thursday was an informative day that featured a marketing forum outlining all the tools that Karisma provides for its GI Vacation Consultants. I have to say I was very excited to see everything that the Karisma team is offering its agents to help them sell their resorts. That afternoon there was a Mexico Panel which provided valuable information about 2012 trends in the market. It’s clear that Mexico is forecasting positive growth with more world-class product, more special promotions and even better rates – all good news for our sun-seeker clients.
That evening was topped off with a visit to the beautiful El Dorado Maroma Resort for a beach party. Never before have I “valeted” my heels at a party. Quite impressive! The “Around the World” beach barbeque spread was fabulous and the band and dancing that followed were so much fun! Friday we spent doing site inspections. I was especially impressed with the new Family Suites (photo at left) at the Azul Beach Hotel which were enormous and truly beautiful.
Several agents that support Vacation Express were honored at the Gala Awards Dinner/Masquerade Ball Friday evening. Atlanta agent Carl Howard with Uniglobe Five Star Travel was honored as one of the top 10 producers for the El Dorado Resorts. See photo below of Carl, LeeAnn and me (complete w/mask for the Masquerade Ball). Carl was also honored as a Level 4 Diamond Award Winner – the highest recognition. Congratulations to Carl! (Even Vacation Express' mascot, Pepe, was front and center at the gala!)
